Story behind pursewit

A dear neighbor and close friend of mine experienced a devastating accident that took away her sight. In an instant, her world changed she could no longer continue her education, and the simple act of participating in daily life became an overwhelming challenge. Watching her lose not just her vision but her sense of independence was heartbreaking.

Moved by her resilience and the silence surrounding support for people like her, I knew I had to act. As a designer, I realized that while I couldn't restore her sight, I could use my skills to restore something just as powerful her confidence, her agency, her ability to earn.

That’s when Pursewit was born: a sewing machine not just adapted for the blind, but built entirely around their needs, their strengths, and their right to thrive. What started with one story has now become a mission to impact thousands.
